For some unknown reason, today my browser can’t open maybank2u.com directly, so I had Google to help me search for it. From the search result, it shows something that I’ve never seen before. It is Maybank’s search box on the search engine result. Further googling reveals that this feature is called search within site or teleportation, another idea from Google.

maybank-search-in-site

I searched for other giant banks such as HSBC and Citibank, as well as local bank such as CIMB, but they have no such feature. So what makes Maybank so special?? How does Google decide which keyword to trigger this feature to appear on the search engine result page? As per Google..

This feature will now occur when we detect a high probability that a user wants a more refined search results within a specific site. Like the rest of our snippets, the sites that display the site search box are chosen algorithmically based on metrics that measure how useful the search box is to users.

But, I merely want to search for Maybank2u.com, not their services. Hehe!!

I hope that blogjer.com will have this feature…

There’s still a long way to go for blogjer to get this feature.

However, bear in mind that it is not impossible.

Another one I found : “UTM” - Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Well maybe blogjer can become ‘more than just a blog’ to get those teleportation someday. :)
