Amazing contest with 8,692 in prizes total to be won by 39 winners

wtw Amazing contest with 8,692 in prizes total to be won by 39 winners

Whoah!!! I couldn’t resist joining this contest, dubbed as ‘Craziest Internet Marketing Contest‘. It has the most amount and variation of prizes I ever found, and what made it further sweet is, 39 contestants could bring home one of the prizes offered. Gyutae Park, owner of winningtheweb.com is brilliant!! If not, how could he struck the deal with the sponsor if the contest is not attractive enough and with a excellent plan, and if he is not a good negotiator?? I salute him for being able to attract a lot of attention from big name sponsors, and hence had blown up the blog sphere with crazy prizes.

Joining the contest is so easy. It is using point system, where participation on certain event, will provide you a certain number of points or entries. The higher entries you have, the higher is your chance to win because the winners are chosen on random draw basis. The good thing is, you can win more than one prize as long as you are eligible. WOW!!

So hurry up, random draw will be held on Monday , March 31. Don’t be jealous if I win one of the prizes. Haha

How to Gain Entries

  • Blog about this contest and link to this post – 10 entries

202th post

I suppose to write this on 200th post, but I missed the count. By the time you read this post, this is blogjer.com 202th post. Not much compared to establish bloggers, but at least it remind me of how far have I gone so far. OK, back to May 2007, I started this blog after a long thought. I wonder if I could do posting regularly or at least couple of posts in a month. Judging the numbers that I have now, I consider my self successful going over the barrier.

My impression before I start blogging is, it will occupy most of my ‘free’ time and another big question is, what am I gonna post?? I look at this on a positive side and over the time, I can coupe with this challenge and in fact it made me more knowledgeable, interact-able and a better writer with quite better English

Why I keep blogging?
Blogjer has never provide me enough earning to my self, and even for few bucks only per month, I still grateful to have it (better than none).  I still rely on adsense, kontera and other affiliates program to which earned from other websites to pay for ebooks, SEO and hosting and domain expenses.  But why I keep blogging if it did not provide you enough earning.

There are 2 reasons. I’m working as an analyst, and most of the time, figure and stat will determine GO or NOGO for certain projects or even metrix for our own perfomance. What is the connection between my job with this blog?? In non working world, I love stat and analysis as well (perhaps I get used with it).  I would like to see blogjer.com break into top 100k Alexa. At the same time I would like to see Blogjer.com achieve pagerank 5 as well. Why I’m too keen@obsess on this 2 stat? It’s because none of my websites has achieved this feat so far.

The 2nd reason is back to $$$$$. Adsense and Kontera not performing very well on blog that blogging about blogging. I experience quite low CTR and eCPM here. But again, I believe blogjer has potential to rake more money, if I open it up for private advertising. But I’m not gonna do it at this point. Perhaps soon when I’m dried of money (or if there is enquiry from you)

Why you should keep writing.
Success does not come overnight. Unless you’re an exceptional writer or blogger who can provide high quality content regularly, accept the fact that your blog won’t be able to make you rich in a short period of time. Do not get frustrated easily with low visitors earning. The most important part it to be yourself. Maintain your posting frequency perhaps few post in a week is good enough for a part time blogger. But if you can post daily, why not give it a shot??

Successful bloggers such as Liew of LiewCF.com or Amit Agarwal of Labnol.org has been in industry for years, and look at how much they have earned. Don’t you think after blogging for few months you’re dreaming of to earn that figure? I respectfully ask you to forget about it!

My humble experience, observation and statistic also shows that, most of my unique visitors came from the search engine, landing at my older post, whereas the new post normally viewed by regular visitors or those who has subscribed the content on their RSS reader. This serve me as a gentle reminder that search engine also won’t index your content immediately. Your contents are gold, the more you have, the more you’ll get on later stage.

To kick of a new blog has become easier nowadays with help of widgets, plugins and themes or even ebook and guidance that available freely on the blog-sphere. One must remember though, that do not customize your blog heavily until you forgotten that the utilised time can be used for something better such as writing post for the blog. Gobala Krishnan  and Yaro Starak are among blogging resources that I frequently visited, to get a fresh ideas about wordpress and blogging.

Use Office Communicator Logger to log your chat on Microsoft Office Communicator

On my environment, MS Office Communicator is widely used instead of Windows Messenger. I’m facing difficulties to automatically log my conversation, compared to Window Messenger which has it’s own logger, Messenger Plus

But fortunately, the problem didn’t lasted long. A friend of mine found the solution at sourceforge.net.

Once you download and install it, spare you time to read their note below
Notes:

RUNNING FOR THE FIRST TIME: The logger does not automatically run after installation. Go to your Startup folder to launch it. And obviously, you will only need to do that once.

RUNNING WITH COMMUNICATOR: The logger cannot initialize without Communicator running. If Communicator has not been started prior to running the logger, a notification bubble will be displayed, and the logger will pause itself. Once Communicator has been started, simply select to unpause the logger from the context menu from the logger’s icon in the system tray. LOGGING: Do not worry if you do not see log files right away. The conversation will be saved once the window is closed.
Once running, it’s icon will appear on your taskbar. From there you have options to view and search the log , view archive log, pause the logger and setup the logger

It is not feature rich, but  it’s good enough to log your IM.

  • Setup how long you want to keep the log
  • Notify when users end the conversation

BN won Malaysia 12th general election (PRU12) but with lesser majority, big win for opposition parties

Quick update on what is going on. BN has won 12th Malaysia’s general election (PRU12) with simply being the majority. Out of 222 seats contested, as of now, BN obtained 124 seats with opposition obtained 68 seats. To gain 2/3 majority, BN is required to get 148 seats.

PAS maintains in ruling Kelantan state for the 4th terms in a row thus dashing BN hopes to take over this state from PAS. DAP and PKR will form a coalition state of Penang where they won numbers of seat from BN. Barisan Alternative has majority seats on a few states namely Selangor, Perak and Kedah.

Several big names lost on their contested seats, namely Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, Dato’ Seri S Samy Vellu and his MIC’s deputy president, Dato’ Dr M Kayveas, Dato’ Seri Sharizat Jalil, Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin. There are more names than that, but I couldn’t remember.

Blogger, Jeff Ooi won parliament seat he contested, but I forgot which one.

I stayed late up till morning, until the broadcast show ended, and I hope to get more details tomorrow. But I believe other prominent political bloggers have more and better updates and analysis than mine.
