Do not attempt to put hidden link in your post, it will appear on RSS reader

I found something that is rather interesting but quite surprising today. I was browsing 1 local blog, it looks interesting, so as usual I subscribed to their contents on my feed reader. However it is not full feed, it’s ok, as long as it is interesting, I’ll keep this feed before unsubscribe it after awhile.

So, I start reading its old posts. But there was something that had really caught my eye. On one of the posts, I found a lot of links below that we often found on the spam comment.

spam in feed Do not attempt to put hidden link in your post, it will appear on RSS reader

The code if you’re interested to have it on your blog.

<u style="display:none"><a href="http://www.bathradar.co.uk/wp-content/1/juegos-seguros-linea.html">juegos seguros

What the heck?? I clicked ‘more‘ links to read the full story on the blog. At a glance, there is nothing there. I’m curious, so I viewed the page code, and there you got the secret. It is using the code below

style=”display:none”

I can’t tell if it is done on purpose or someone has hacked that particular post, but from the meta name, it is using the latest WordPress 2.3.3.

But whatever the intention is, the hidden link will appear on the RSS reader. So be careful if you’re trying to do black hat SEO dude!! (if you intend to do so). I’m not gonna reveal which blog it is, but I hope the author is aware of what is going on and do whatever needed to avoid Google slap (or bloggers slap). Hint, the author is not active on blogjer, so don’t worry about that.

I think I should check my post as well from now on.

p/s: Off topic, Raymond is very generous to share something interesting about his experience which had changed his life forever. Read more at Linn Comel

If you guys have anything to shout out, do mail or contact me. I’ll try my best to include it at the end of my post (no racist, quick rich scheme etc)

UPDATE : Remove to spam URL, too long

yup, rss readers sometimes reveal the unwanted. once, they display my temporary post which was supposed to be deleted. lol

Why don’t you ask the blog owner personally?
His/her blog might has been hacked. Someone posted the same issue in WP forum:

    But it’s 2.3.3. Strange.

hidden links is when the invisible link putted by incident, or injected by malicious script into your blog post. as a result it appeared like spam links in the feed reader..correct me if im wrong

  16. Syam says:

and this is the main reason why you should double check your post before publish it..sometimes there will be a story that you dont want to share with the audiences but you just write it down by accident :)

  17. azwanhadzree says:
