I’ll be off tomorrow (public holiday in Malaysia), so during this time off, how about If I’m sharing with you how important applying Ergonomics principal in your working life. So when you’re back you can start doing this. I know blogging or working can become tiring if you stay in front of your computer for a long period of time.
Ops, I believe you have see it somewhere before, maybe circulated in your office’s newsletter or presented during your team building or seminar and etc. But you might have forgotten about it.Furthermore I know everyone is on festive moods, informative or too technical information might not digested well by you.
Here are some tips that you can use in order to create a productive ergonomic :
1. Adjust the height of your chair’s seat so that your feet can rest firmly on the floor with your arms and hands positioned comfortably on the keyboard.
2. A footrest can be used if your chair is too high for your feet to rest flat on the floor.
3. Sit all the way IN so that your lower back is supported by the backrest.
4. The keyboard should be positioned at elbow rest height. Pls refer to the picture below.
5. The Video Display Terminal (VDT) should be positioned so that the first couple of lines of text are at eye level.
6. Take a microbreak every hour to stretch.
7. Take time for vision care. Every 30 minutes to 1 hour, you should rest your eyes. You can palm your eyes by cupping your hands over your closed eyes for about 30 seconds or you can look at a distant object.
8. Get plenty of rest each night and reduce stress to feel more relaxed.
9. Eat right and take time to exercise. Pick an exercise that you enjoy doing.
10. It is important to report any symptoms early to in-house clinic and seek treatment to minimize and eliminate the risk of injury.
