blogging on part time basis

part time blogging on part time basis

Being a part time blogger or IM(Internet Marketer) and at the same time having to work on 9-5 job is pretty hard I feel sometimes. Other than tiredness, you have to be punctual in doing your tasks. There’s no better way in handling this other than having your own schedule and checklist of what you should do everyday.

For myself who work 9 hours per day (including 1 hour rest time), I used to spend 2 more hours in the office for meetings, trainings or urgent issues that must be handled and solved immediately and ASAP. This adds additional burden and limits my time even further to do my part time job since I have to divide the time with my family as well.

So how do I manage all tasks daily ? I’m not very good on that, but I have a few tips that you might want to try.

Managing and reading your emails
This is one of the tasks that would normally take most of your time, especially if you have a lot of email addresses for each of your websites. The best way is to download your emails to your email clients such as MS outlook or Eudora. It is tedious to go trough each email account one by one, and even worse if our email is sitting on different servers which require different login URLs and user information. For free emails such as Gmail or yahoo, it might be easier since you only have to sign in and out only, but better still, it is not a user-friendly task for you.

If you can’t afford MS Outlook (which comes with your MS office), you can use MS Outlook Express (called on MS Windows version prior Vista) or called MS Mail in MS Vista, which came free with the OS. Uedora is pretty good too, I had tried it before.

If you’re using smart phone with wireless email or WLAN capabilities, that is even better. You will stay connected with your email wherever and whenever you are.

Deal with your family or spouse properly
This may sound weird for some of you, but this is real. Family is the most important thing you’ll ever have, but sometimes you spend lesser time with them than with your part time job or your permanent job. Let them understand what you’re doing in the most basic way and tell them what and why you doing this, and maybe give them some advantages that they might get if you’re successful. Attract them to join you in doing this together, 2 person is always better than 1.

If you have Paypal account or Adsense check, show it to them, that this is what you have achieved so far. Impress them and make them feel interested to join you. Living in peace and harmony as well as having cooperation from your spouse and family, will make your effort being appreciated and probably double the outcome too.

Rest adequately
Spend the time wisely between your family, your part time job and don’t forget yourself too. Get yourself enough rest. Remember that you still have a permanent job to attend daily on weekdays, and don’t let your part time job affects your permanent job. When you just started in this field, you still depends much of your financial condition with your salary, so do not jeopardize them until your part time job is giving equal or more than what you earn from your permanent job.

Having better rest also will make you more energetic in doing things and generate more bright ideas and etc.

Outsource of hire
Previously, I’m doing everything on my own, from web design, script modification, promotion and getting traffic. But now, I realized that is not the best way to manage your business. What is the area that you can outsource?

– Hire someone to do something that is not under your expertise, such as web design
– Automate as many processes/tasks as you can, such as in SEO or getting traffic or blogging

So how do you manage your internet business? Are you doing it full time or part time basis?

what can you do with your free e-book

I always dream to have my own e-book or product to be shared with my readers. I feel that, it was the right ways to appreciate my readers as well as reshaping my writing skill and English. But yes, that wasn’t an easy task. With my poor English, I have to do double task here, searching and arranging the information and secondly make it readable and understandable by everyone.

But I still want something for my readers, even though it is not coming from me, it is from someone else, but at least it is legal. So this is the idea that came out when I’m doing housekeeping on my notebook. It was totally mess and I can found free notes and tips everywhere, more than 1 copy exist in different folder, and some of them I even hadn’t read it.

In order not to waste those valuable resources I plan to put it into my download section with 2 purposes in mind, as a backup and for you to download it.

So how do I arrange those notes?

- Put it based on the author?
- Categorize it based on topics?

I decide to choose the option 1, arrange it based on author. I feel that was the easiest way for me, since I have a lot of e-books from different authors. Inside the folder, I create another sub folder to categorize the notes based on the topics.

Doing the other way round also is good. Use the topic such as blogging, PPC, affiliate, JV as the outer folder and create author’s name as sub folder. If you have better ideas how to manage it, feel free to suggest it, I’m open to changes.

So, can you put all your free notes, e-book to be downloaded or given as a free give? Absolutely NO. Each e-book is copyrighted by the authors and some of them cannot be distributed freely or from your blog

Keep an eye on the e-book’s front page whether this e-book is freely distributed and can be given as a gift from your blog. Even though is it free, some author restricted that their e-book can only be downloaded from their website/blog

Do not distribute paid e-books even though you buy for it. Paid e-book is for personal use only and do not violate the e-book’s copyright.

At the moment, I put some of the best e-books on the topic that I have interested most such SEO, blogging, Google and PPC. I’ll update the list form time to time after I finish reading it. Feel free to comment if some of them shouldn’t be available for download from this blog.

do you have any problem with your telecommunication services?

SKMM small do you have any problem with your telecommunication services?

Nowadays, telecommunication has become part of our life. We rely everything on them whether to communicate with the love one, as part of our ways of earn for living, to get the latest information and updates or even as our entertainment.

But how many times, you have not been able to do that when you’re really in need? Well, maybe less or never. I’m personally haven’t much trouble with them. But if it does happen, what should you do and what do you feel? It’s quite frustrated for sure, and you’ll even more frustrate if your complaint is not being entertained.

I have one friend who is facing this issue recently when her 3G wireless card is not working for the whole days and with no early notice being given. She has very important job to do that days from home, so she end up spending 16 hours in office during weekend. Oh, I forgot to mention that she is 8 month old pregnant mom (you can imagine how she feel)

So when I read newspaper this morning and found this small advert, immediately it remind me of her, and I have this piece of information passed to her if she need to escalated this issue further. It’s not our intention to make those company pay for what was happen, but that was their responsibility to serve us better (or notify us for any service disruption) after all we as a loyal customer support them so far.

Enhancement

John Chow and Shoemoney has changed their blog looks, so I don’t want to be left over icon smile Enhancement There is a couple of enhancements/fixing that I have done to make this blog looks better, giving more valuable resources and will then attract more visitors hopefully

Using WP contact form
Previously, I was sharing the contact form with my e-ticketing system for my other websites, but it didn’t look nice. So I installed wp-contactform that I had downloaded from douglaskarr blog which is accessible from the menu below my header. You can contact me if you want to do link exchange as well (but my blog has no PR icon sad Enhancement ).

New header.
Previous header is the default header that comes in default with the template. It’s a just the blog name and its description. I would like to see this blog looks prettier, and I think it is time to change with something better. So I grabbed one of the Vista Wallpaper that I downloaded from Digital Inspiration, captured the screen using SnagIt to get the size of original header, cut the Vista wallpaper based on the size header that I got, put some wordings there and finally uploaded it using CoreFtp. Well, it looks very simple, but as long as I’m happy with it, I’ll keep it until I find another nice wallpaper or have enough budget to redesign or to have my very own template.

New advertisement
If you notice, there is a new form of advertising at the upper right of this screen called ‘peelads’. It is only $35 and I think it is quite nice to have it. I have it installed to all my websites to test how much is the click through rate. According to Jonathan Leger, he enjoy 5% click through rate for the 5 days period. Don’t worry, if you’re interested, you can get it here (my affiliate link)

continue tomorrow with more interesting stuff…
