happy 50th independence day, Malaysia

Next Friday, my beloved country Malaysia will celebrate it 50th Independence Day. It’s been 50 years since 1957 where the late Tunku Abd Rahman and his delegation successfully negotiate our independence from British Colonial back then. Every 31st August we’ll celebrate independence day or called by most of Malaysian as Hari Kemerdekaan .

Last month, I have posted the same thing about independence, but it was for the US (where some of my colleagues were) where it was known there as Memorial Day . On my brief observation on several local blog, I can see that there is spirit of celebrating this big event. Lets grab some of what I have here in local blog sphere.

  • LiewCF has posted about Microsoft Malaysia has created special page in accordance of Malaysia 50th Independence Day. LiewCF posted some logo as well which I have it on my right sidebar. The logo will bring you to VirtualMalaysia, the side dedicated for Malaysia 50th Independence day.The original logo is here if you’re interested with the PNG file
  • Nice poster from mob1900. It is a palm wrapped/painted with Malaysian flag. It has interesting and hot topic inside icon smile happy 50th independence day, Malaysia
  • If you’re photographer or you have a good skills in photography, Jeff Ooi posted about the photography contest called Malaysia@50, to capture snapshots of “A Day in the Life of Malaysia”. It’s been going on since last year.
  • There is a contest as well for our Merdeka day and the prize is not that bad. Exabytes is offering mobile phone and keyboards to the winner of their contest which is very simple. Register yourself , put their logo on your websites, get spotted by them and win their price. I have joined it as well on one of my websites

I’m purposely posting this earlier as during week days, I have limited time to do blogging stuff. At my company where I’m working at, we have few competitions such as merdeka related online quiz, traditional dressing code competition, and some treasure hunt contest.

So what you have planned on that day?? Watching television/movie, dating, go shopping or even sleeping whole day long?? Heh, thats not right man. Btw, I have my plan in my head… WORKING!!

Search Engine Strategies (SES)

SES San jose Search Engine Strategies (SES)

This would be the first year of my blogging career, and it would be the first time I’m reading about SES even though I heard about before. So what is SES (Search Engine Strategies). From their official website, as it name suggested, it is conference and expo that discuss about the latest development and update about search engine

Initially, most of the information about SES that I read came from WebProNews, one of my favorite ebusiness news provider other than TechCrunch and TechMeme. I do recommend you to the register their newsletter or RSS feed to keep updated with the latest news. Back to SES, every year most internet marketers, SEO experts and key industry related personal will attend this much sought after event. So what is interesting this round?

There are bunch of informations available from their blog. I’ll try to pick some of of the interesting information available there for my own reference and you too my dearest reader.

1. SEOMoz post some tips how to build your networking better. This is not related directly to search engine, but it more toward building relationship with those ‘big guys’ attending the events. There is nothing unusual about the tips, but it present great reminder to us to do some homework prior the event as well sharpen your communication skills of course.

2. Google is opening it owns Click-Fraud Resource Center or called Ad Traffic Quality Resource Center as posted by InternetNews. It seems google has taking a step further after sued by group of advertisers due to this issue back then

3. Cnet News.com reported that Yahoo has los it market share, again. I’m early waiting how Yahoo will respond toward this declining and I’m interested to see how the comeback of their founder will help pulling the company back on the right track

4. David Dalka has posted some interesting post about Earning Money from contextual ads where one of my favorite blogger, ShoeMoney is giving his opinion.

5. There is some interesting post about video search optimization from bruceclay

6. Picture search seems one of the favourite topic here and I found a couple of interesting post from WebProNews and Live blog and rbdrodeo . One interesting point is the usage of “Alt Text” on all pictures uploaded to the net

That all for today, make sure you browse over to their blog to get more new and update. To be continue…

1 week post

1218283771 b2d99ac548 1 week post

It’s been a week since my last post. I know I shouldn’t leave my blog unattended since search engines bot is occasionally coming to look for fresh contents, but unfortunately it’s not there. I’m sorry bot, you won’t be disappointed today.
There is a few interesting events that had happened last week. Last week and early week, I spent most of the time building few websites using the new domain that I bought previously, link them together with free blogs that I have before to create new mini network interconnected between them. I was inspired to get it done after reading this video . It is 42 minute video that is worth your attention.

Then, there is Dell 24” Wide Screen LCD that I mentioned before. I have tested (with some movie and video only) it, I’m very much satisfied with the performance, the display is good as well as other additional ports that it has, such as S-Video, card reader and others. I tried to snap better pictures, but unfortunately the quality is not that good, maybe due to my 0 photography skills.

My wife has resigned from her 8.30 – 5.30 job and joins me managing my websites and blog networks. Welcome my dear. Part of my time also spent teaching her some basic web terminology, techniques, and tools as well as introduce her with my blogs and websites that she has not really taken care before. It’s good to work on this together with my wife. She’ll do some postings soon after she had managed to catch up on higher priority tasks that I am assigning to her (Do I look bossy here, hehe)

We also grab Acer Aspire 4520 last week, it is entry level notebook powered by AMD Turion X2. Not a high end notebook, but I never have tasted the power of AMD processor chip so far. It’s quite good, in terms of performance; it’s almost the same level with Centrino Duo. With 1.5 GB memory, it is able to run Vista Premium well. First experience with Vista as well, nice graphics and more functions available, but I’m still not yet an expert on it.

Well, that’s all for now. Hopefully, you’ll never see this blog in ‘hibernate’ mode again in future. Cheers!!
