This story might be old by the time I post it here. I know very well, internet is moving very fast. I came across to unlocked iPhone yesterday evening when I’m looking for free ftp software. I’m not a gadget geek , but having read this post made me think how they do it? When I read TheStar (local newspaper) yesterday, there is a picture of 1 teenager holding unlocked iPhone, I know, it’s time digging this story.

I have posted one post about iPhone earlier (not a very good post actually), when it just launched, but I never thought it will be unlocked this fast. That teenager called George Hotz from NJ, is the first person in the world who successfully unlocked iPhone. Clap!! He has posted steps by steps how to do it on his blog as well. And his first unlocked iPhone was traded with Nissan 350z and 3 8gb iPod. Nice stuff!

Earlier today, I read from Engadget , 1 team called iPhoneSimsFree manage to unlocked iPhone using piece of software, which would be much easier work (but it is not free) than what George Hotz has done. If you browse over to their website, they have started offering unlocking service and on top of that, they’re offering it free of charge for the top 3 applicants.. only.

On a local scene, I saw there is 1 thread in lowyat.net discussing about this matter. I’m not reading through in detail, but I think I saw someone has posted a picture of iPhone with Digi sim card. Well done guys!! I believe, very soon, we’ll started to see iPhone sold as AP set all over the place

The good thing about all this development is, those who’re dreaming of getting iPhone (especially in other region than US) won’t have to wait until next year. Get someone to buy it from US (or ebay), and unlocked it using iPhoneSimFree service.
